New Cover Design: The Silver Shawl

Please join me in congratulating Elisabeth Grace Foley on the release of the first novelette in her Mrs. Meade Mystery series! Elisabeth provided me with the silhouette and I designed the cover. She wanted to go with a simple design that could easily be carried over to each subsequent book in the series with minor changes. I wanted to make sure the cover conveyed a sense of the time period and the content, and when I was seeking a setting for the silhouette, I lit upon the idea of an antique magnifying glass. I think it all came together quite nicely!

Book Description:

In a small town in turn-of-the-century Colorado, a young woman has disappeared from the boarding-house where she lives. Her distraught fiancĂ© is certain that she must have been kidnapped. But the case takes a new turn when a city detective appears on the scene, looking for a woman who matches the description of the missing girl. Was Charity really kidnapped, or did she have a reason to flee? Mrs. Meade, a gentle but shrewd widow lady who lives across the hall in the boarding-house, feels that there is something wrong with the story of Charity’s disappearance…but can she unravel the mystery before it is too late?

The Silver Shawl officially releases October 6th and is available on AmazonBarnes & Noble, and Smashwords! And check out Elisabeth's website, The Second Sentence, where she blogs about reading, writing, and history. She's also a contributor, along with yours truly, to The Vintage Reader.
